Man bitten by snake that was lurking under his pillow

A man from north Queensland, Australia, has been bitten on the finger by a metre-long snake that was curled up under a pillow on his bed.

The Trinity Beach resident was going to sleep on Friday night when he slid his hand under the covers, only to get the fright of his life. Cairns snake catcher Matt Hagan was called at about 11.30pm to remove the 1.2-metre reptile and comfort the man and his wife, who had been disturbed by his screams.

According to Mr Hagan, the resident, Jack, was just getting comfortable beneath his sheets when he “slipped his hand under the pillow and was bitten on the finger by the enormous spotted python sharing his bed”. "When I arrived, Jack's wife was deciding whether it was more practical to burn the house down or move to New Zealand.

"Jack looked like a man destined to get very little sleep over the coming nights. A closer inspection of the crime scene revealed a solid spotted python that had quickly taken up residence in Jack's bedside drawer." Mr Hagan said it was probably the fattest spotted python he'd ever had to relocate.

Hmmm. Though I bet these folks haven't been having problems with rodents lately.

No, but they sometimes wonder where the kids went.
